Wow! Excellent advice. I will take it! You're right, I going to replace the Hubbard book ... not only do I NOT want to seduced into anything, they are also quite hard to find. Again, awesome advice!

Try some Latin American literature:

Gabriel García Márquez - One Hundred Years of Solitude

Jorge Luis Borges - Ficciones (English Translation)
Jorge Luis Borges - The Aleph and Other Stories

Mario Vargas Llosa - The Green House
Mario Vargas Llosa - Death in the Andes

Carlos Fuentes - The Death of Artemio Cruz

Augusto Roa Bastos - I, the Supreme

Laura Restrepo - Isle of Passion

Julio Cortázar - Blow Up: And Other Stories
Julio Cortázar - Bestiary

José Donoso - Hell Has No Limits

Manuel Puig - Kiss of the Spider Woman

Adolfo Bioy Casares - The Invention of Morel

Juan Carlos Onetti - Let the Wind Speak

Juan Rulfo - Pedro Paramo (English Translation)

Alan Pauls - The Past

Manuel Puig - Kiss of the spider woman

Tips:

* Don't waste your valuable time reading L.Ron Hubbard's books.
* Why so many works of Charles de Lint? He is not so relevant! Select only one or two and discard the others.
* SciFi is great, but Hemingway & Faulkner are waaay better, read them first (& Joyce, Steinbeck, Woolf, Kerouak, Burroughs, Lowry, Miller, Bowles, McCullers)
* Beguin the SciFi books with Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five.
* You are doing well with the green ones (the "read after list")
*Post some comments about the books you have already read, it's a good exercise!

Good luck and happy reading!

Well written I could not have put it in better terms myself. Your essay was logically thought out and embedded with proof; which is what a professor looks for in an essay and I concur, opinions are nothing without good evidence to back it up.

How true! How true! The body has this incredible power to heal itself. The process is even faster when given the basic tools it need to function properly. In other words give it the foods it needs, help it get rid of the garbage and you have increased your health and resistance to illness. Gladly the backache resolved quickly. Many chronic diseases will also respond when given the correct tools.

Sadly in the name of feeling better we clog the body systems with over the counter and prescription drugs that actually interfere with the health process. Hense all the side effects from our medications. Step back and give nature a try. It is incredibley powerful.

Here's to true health with natural remedies.

You said that you are paying 61% of your time in working, in sleeping and not enough time for yourself. I have some bad news for you, your maths actually undercounted. Next time when you get a paycheck, look at the numbers and it will depress you even more. Let me assume you make less than $50,000 a year. below is your tax percent
Federal taxes 20%
Social Security taxes (you and your employer's) 17%
state taxes (assume California) 4%
medicaid/care taxes 6%
so, at least 47% of the money you earned during your work hour goes to the government and does not go to you.

so, net net, you'll be lucky to have 20% of the time left to yourself.

also, the above math is assuming you are a low income earner. if you truly work hard, make sacrifice in life and talented and ended up earning more $, your share of money going to the government can be as high as 67%. so add in your 61% number.............

Derick-

Great Idea. I was wondering can this tool be used to convert 13 to 10? We are a publishing company that has moved to 13, however some of our customers still use 10 for ordering purposes. This would be great to bulk convert rather than converting one by one.

Thanks in advance.

About Death, be not proud

John Donne is an escapist.....his idea about death is subjective in nature....he is unable to digest the fact death is a universal truth...
He personifies death as a human being and talks to it and challenges death it's not a big for it to occur as its role is also played by war, disease and poison...
Our Literature Sir taught it very nicely
so we like this poem!!

I'm usually one of those irritating people who likes to war against apathy and would normally jump down your throat (or something equally cliched) for not voting. But how can you argue with someone who is making an informed decision not to vote?

Been there done that. I like to engage in a little thing called "ballot spoiling," does such a concept exist for you lot?

You seem to be forgetting that you still can vote for Ron Paul. He is on the ballet. And while he's not likely to win, you can still make your voice heard, along with whoever else supports the guy.

In fact, you CAN vote for whoever you want. That's what the write-in box is for. Is it going to make a difference? No, not likely. But the minority has a voice... as long as they choose to use it.

I have enjoyed your view on the casino. You have a beautiful way with words. It's obvious you are well educated. I would like to say that you should write a book in a field you enjoy expressing. Your writing holds intrest which makes you want more, like a professional journalist or a trial attorney. Chris should never be board with you and also be on his toes at all times. Enough said. Thanks for the enjoyment, Mick

Hmmmm.....

Nice blog dude! Keep it up!

Secondly, regarding the Scottish or rather should I say, Gaelic (well not in its true and pure form but may be one can call Celtic) lifestyle, language and people has really really put a big impression on me and I'm willing to take that impression life long.

Regarding movie, I guess there is one movie called "The Nephew" (nope not even the Netflix has this one!) which has some strong flavors of the people from Ireland in general and is a good catch if you want to peek into the day to day lifestyle of the Irish/Scottish people.

Finally, one more movie I have had seen during my transit hours in a luxory hotel of Kingdom of Bahrain, ah but I was so drowsy that I can't recall almost anything from that movie... may be I should re-search (yes, I dont prefer to use the word for verb "googling") and watch it...

I love all the different takes...

It's true at first it seems that Maud has the better life going off to college while Sadie stays home, but as you read on that changes. "Sadie scraped life with a fine-tooth comb, her comb found every strand" means she left nothing undone no rock unturned she did everything she wanted to do in life and was one of the happiest people in the land. Obviously she was a single mom and her family was ashamed because according to society that didn't look right. When Sadie dies her daughters will remember her as free spirited and a person who loved and enjoyed life. Maud on the other hand lives alone with no one to pass her heritage on to. So at the end of the story I would say Sadie was the smarter of the two.
